Police issue fraud warning in C-K

The Chatham-Kent Police Service have issue a fraud warning across the community.

Police officials say on Tuesday, police received several calls throughout the day from people reporting suspicious telephone calls.

“The incidents involved calls from scammers purporting to be either from the CRA, Reader’s Digest, financial institutions or police officers,” police officials said in a press release.

“Luckily, no one who called police for assistance yesterday was defrauded of any money.”

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that scammers will try to impersonate various businesses or people in an effort to access personal or financial information from you.

“They may use harsh language or an aggressive tone to illicit a quick response from you, before you have a chance to realize it’s a scam,” police officials said.
