Violet Shipman of Walpole Island First Nation

Violet Shipman (Riley) a resident of Walpole Island First Nation, peacefully passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Sydenham Campus, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the age of 85.

Violet is the daughter of the late Isaiah Blackbird and Fairen Riley. Cherished wife of the late Alger Guy Shipman. Loving mother of Kenneth Riley (late Joyce), Stewart Shipman (Michelle), Elizabeth Shipman, Randy Shipman (Terrianne), Vaughn Shipman, Brian Shipman, Helen Smith (Ken), Torrey Jacobs (Gary), Brenda Shipman-Williams (late Wallace) and the late Patrick Shipman. Dear sister of Ira White Sr. (Susan). She is loved and will also be missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by 3 granddaughters; Natasha Shipman, Kendra Blackbird and Tonya Dashner Shipman as well as 19 brothers and sisters.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Saturday from 7-9 PM. Funeral Service at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2 PM. Interment at Highbanks Cemetery, Walpole Island.
