Dresden Terry Fox Run raises an ‘amazing’ total

It was business as usual for the organizers of the Dresden Terry Fox Run.

Cindy Brewer, the event organizer, said an “amazing” total of $34,727.05 for cancer research.

“It was an incredible day of stories and emotions for 338 participants and volunteers,” Brewer said following the event.

“We loved every minute.”

Brewer said the dedicated annual participants can be thanked for making Dresden the best Terry Fox Run in Ontario, per capita, for the last two years

“We have fantastic participants,” Brewer said.

“They have just embraced the concept of the run. They come as a family. They unload bikes and they do it every year. It just becomes part of their family tradition.”

Brewer said local service clubs have hopped on board with the event as well, making it truly a “Terry Fox Run’ weekend each year in Dresden.

“All of our service clubs have also adopted us and they do their own event and raise money and it all just comes together,” she said.

“It is just Dresden. Holding hands and working together towards this goal. It’s just phenomenal to watch.”

The festivities started on Thursday last week with a barbecue, plus a pizza fundraiser, a ‘Lite Bite’ at the Legion on Friday, a chicken and rib dinner on Saturday and the ‘Night Before Club’ on Saturday night.
