Lois Ann Smith, (nee Wesley) R.N. age 82. Lois passed away in the afternoon on Monday, September 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on 1934 in Port Lambton, Ontario, Canada at the home of her parents, Sam and Mary Wesley. After graduating from Wallaceburg, Ontario High School in 1952, she enrolled at Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in London, Ontario. She graduated in 1955 and on May 19, 1956 she married Richard F. Smith. Lois enjoyed her nursing career and worked at several hospitals. She retired from Botsford Hospital, in Farmington Hills, in 1994 after working for 27 years. After retirement she and her husband sailed their sailboat on a 9 month cruise from Lake Saint Clair to Florida via the intercoastal waterway and then later to the Bahamas. Lois had a deep love for her family. She believed in kindness, generosity, humor and respect for others. She enjoyed extensive traveling, sailing, boating, reading and painting.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard; her children Kimberley (Gregory) Anderson and Todd (Adina) Smith; her grandchildren Joshua, Jordon and Jillian Anderson, Sean, Kyle and Mitchell Smith; and her great granddaughter, Giselle Costa. Lois was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Mary, and her siblings Gordon, Burt and Barbara.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada on Thursday, September 21 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 474 Broadway St. in Port Lambton, Canada on Friday, September 22 at 1 PM.
Interment to follow at McDonald Cemetery. If desired, remembrances to the McDonald Cemetery Tree Fund may be left at the funeral home 519.627.3231.
