Reversible Welcome Sign Workshop

Reversible Welcome Sign Workshop

Wallaceburg based business, Home & Cottage Interiors, is accepting reservations for their newest workshop, a reversible greeting sign.

“It took some experimenting to figure out a way to complete both sides in one three-hour workshop, but we finally figured it out,” said Diane Galvin, manager of the store.

“The ‘Welcome’ side will be stained in advanced and just the lettering will have to be painted on that night. The other side, with the snowman and “Let It Snow” will be completely painted that night by the participants.”

The two-sided sign is 12” wide and stands 48” tall.

Participants can choose between seven different colours for the word ‘Welcome’ on the front and can completely customize the back, which features a snowman and the message ‘Let It Snow’.

“This way, everyone can choose colours that work best with the colour scheme of their home and front porch,” Galvin said.

One huge advantage to this reversible project is that you don’t have to put it away.

The ‘Welcome’ side can face out for most of the year and then you just turn it around in November to show ‘Let it Snow’ for the winter.

Clock Workshop

“We chose ‘Let It Snow’ over several different holiday messages, because the snowman and the message work well throughout the winter months,” Galvin added.

The workshops run on Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning on October 5.

“We will offer seven workshops in October and November,” Galvin said.

They can accommodate six participants per class and will book private parties subject to availability.

The cost for the workshop is $80 and includes tax, drinks and snacks.

“It’s a very social outing,” Galvin said.

“The participants enjoy a fun evening out and get to take home a great creation for their own home or to give as a very unique gift.”

Home & Cottage Interiors often get requests for ‘private parties’ because people are always looking for different things to do with their friends.

“Groups of six can book one of the available Thursday evenings as a private party, as long as no ones else has purchased a seat for that night, or we will book private parties on Wednesdays as well.”

Besides the welcome sign workshop, Home & Cottage Interiors is also offering a clock workshop on Thursday, October 19 and an instructional chalk paint workshop called ‘Paint Your First Piece’ on Wednesday, October 25 and Wednesday, November 29th

Cost for the clock and the chalk paint workshops is $100.

“We also do a lot of custom signs for customers and receive a lot of orders for Christmas, so we won’t be running any workshops in December,” Galvin said.

Home & Cottage Interiors is located at 1964 Dufferin Ave., which is west of Wallaceburg just passed Fairfield Park nursing home.

They are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
