Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith picked up an assist in his regular season debut with the Buffalo Sabres.

The 24-year-old forward controlled a bouncing puck in the first period on the powerplay against the Montreal Canadiens, and feathered a beautiful pass over to Jason Pominville, who scored with a backhand shot at the 8:30 mark.

Griffith picked up the one point and was even on the night in 13:51 minutes of ice time, including 3:11 on the powerplay.

He also had a two minute penalty and two shots on net for the Sabres, who fell to Montreal 3-2 in a shootout.

The Sabres are back in action on Saturday, when they travel to New York to face the Islanders.

Puck drops at 7 p.m.
