Brodie assists on OT winner for Flames

Dresden’s T.J. Brodie picked up an assist on Sean Monahan’s overtime winner for the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.

After initially giving up a 2-0 lead against the L.A. Kings, the Flames ties things up at 3-3 in the third period, before winning the game in the extra frame. The final score was 4-3.

Brodie had the one point and was +1 in 26:03 minutes of ice time for Calgary.

They’ll be back in action at home on Friday against Ottawa.

Griffith and Sabres in San Jose

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith will be back in action with the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.

The winless Sabres will battle the winless Sharks at 10:30 p.m.

Buffalo shook up the lines this week in practice.

Griffith skated on a line with Jordan Nolan and Jacob Josefson.

The 24-year-old winger was also slated on the second powerplay unit for the Sabres.

In three games this season, Griffith has recorded 1 assist.

Lakers lose to Essex and Blenheim

The Wallaceburg Lakers dropped two games this week in Junior ‘C’ hockey action.

On Tuesday, Wallaceburg to Essex 6-0.

Patrick Timpary made 33 saves in the loss.

On Wednesday at home the Lakers fell to the Blenheim Blades, 8-3.

Ryan MacAlpine, Elijah Contreras, and Matthew Brevetti all scored for Wallaceburg.

Timpary made 24 saves in the loss.

The Lakers are now 1-7-0 on the season, last in the West Stobbs Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

Wallaceburg will be back in action on Monday in Wheatley.
