Parks Blueberries theft suspect turns herself in

A woman has turned herself into policem weeks after an alleged theft at Parks Blueberries.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on Wednesday, September 20, just before 6 p.m. an unknown woman entered the 14815 Longwoods Road store in Bothwell.

Police allege while in the store, the woman selected various items valued at approximately $100 and placed them into her purse.

The woman then exited the store making no attempt to pay for the concealed merchandise.

These events were captured on video surveillance and the police subsequently sent out a press release with photos, in hopes of identifying the unknown woman.

Police officials say on Saturday, October 4, at 7 a.m. the woman allegedly turned herself in at the police station.

A 49-year-old Chatham woman was arrested on the warrant and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was held until later that day for a bail hearing.

“Thank you to the public for their assistance in helping CKPS identify the woman,” police officials stated.
