Wallaceburg Satans lose in semi’s

The Wallaceburg Satans came up short in their bid for a Box Lacrosse League championship on the weekend.

After finishing second in the league during the regular season, the #2 seeded Satans battled the #3 ranked Chicago Outlaws in the semi-finals of the BLL National Championships held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

After chipping away at Chicago’s lead, Wallaceburg scored four consecutive goals in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 11-11.

However, with only 1:50 minutes left in the match, Chicago scored an even strength goal making the score 12-11 for the Outlaws, which is how the game ended.

Evan Mathany was named players of the game for Wallaceburg, with 4 goals and 2 assists.

St. Louis ended up winning the cahmpionship, topping Chicago in the final 12-7.

Lakers lose in Hartig’s debut

The Wallaceburg Lakers fell to the Wheatley Sharks on Monday night by a score of 10-5.

The game was the first behind the bench for new head coach John Hartig Sr.

Jake Vancoillie, Noah Tetrault, Zachery Hartig, KJ Fontenot and Ryan MacAlpine all scored for the Lakers on Monday.

Tetrault also picked up 2 assits for a 3-point night.

Even Brown and Josh Oberg each picked up 2 assists as well.

Wallaceburg is now 1-80 on the season, last place in the West Stobbs Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

They’ll be back in action on Wednesday night, when they host the Petrolia Flyers.

Seth sits

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith was a healthy scratch on Sunday when the Buffalo Sabres visited the Anaheim Ducks.

Buffalo ended up winning their first game of the season by a score of 3-1.

So far in five games this year with Buffalo, Griffith has recorded 1 assist.

The Sabres wrap-up a West Coast road trip on Tuesday night, when they battle the Las Vegas Golden Knights for the first time.

Baseball registration coming up

The Wallaceburg Minor Baseball Association is holding an early bird registration on Sunday, October 22 at the Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

It will be held in the lobby from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the same time as the free skate at the arena.

Cash or cheque is being acceptyed for the hardball and fastball divisions.
