Fatal crash in Sarnia

Police are investigating after a fatal crash on Monday, which claimed the life of an elderly Sarnia woman.

Sarnia Police Service officials say at approximately 4 p.m. on October 23, the Sarnia Police Service, along with Sarnia Fire and Lambton Paramedics, responded to a collision at the intersection of Waterworks Road and Michigan Line in Sarnia.

Police allege from information received a vehicle being driven by a 93-year-old woman from Sarnia travelling westbound on Michigan Line came into collision with a vehicle travelling northbound on Waterworks Road driven by a 58-year-old man from Sarnia.

Police say the man was treated on scene and released.

However, the woman was transported to hospital as unresponsive and later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

At this time the investigation into the collision continues and the Sarnia Police Service is reaching out to the public for any information anyone may have to assist in this investigation.

The intersection of Waterworks Road and Michigan Line will be totally closed to traffic this morning until 1 p.m.

Barricades will be set up at Waterworks and Lakeshore along with Waterworks and London Line.

Also, barricades will be set up at Michigan and Brigden Road as well as Michigan and Mandaumin Road.

Local traffic will be allowed to their residence but no one will be allowed through the intersection at Michigan and Waterworks.
