Kings win, Lakers lose, Tartans blank Panthers, girls hoops action

Kings top Flyers

Derek Shaw scored the game winner, with 1 minute left in regulation, as the Dresden Kings topped the Petrolia Flyers 4-3 on Thursday.

Kevin Ritzer scored a pair and Nolan VandenBoorn also found the back of the net for Dresden.

Brendan Johnston made 21 saves for the win.

Dresden hosts Essex on Friday and visits the 73’s on Tuesday.

The Kings are now 8-4-1-0 on the season, good for 4th in the West Stobbs Division.

Lakers fall to Mooretown

Despite being up 3-2 after one period of play, things unraveled for the Wallaceburg Lakers on Wednesday against Mooretown.

The Flags scored 7 unanswered goals, enroute to a 9-3 win.

Zachery Hartig, Ty Lucio and Dale McMaster all scored for Wallaceburg.

The Lakers are in Lakeshore on Friday night, and will host Wheatley on Wednesday.

Wallaceburg is 1-11-0-0 on the year, last in the league.

Tartans blank Panthers in varsity football

The Wallaceburg Tartans blanked the McGregor Panthers on Wednesday in LKSSAA varsity football action, 42-0.

Patrick Ezewski scored three touchdowns, Darcy Ezewski scored on an interception return and Dylan Denys and Josh Klompstra added rushing touchdowns.

Gabe Namink kicked six extra points.

The first-place Tartans will host the Blenheim in the championship on Saturday, November 4. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.

Cards top Tilbury, Tartans fall to St. Pats in girls hoops

The Lambton-Kent Cardinals beat Tilbury on Tuesday in LKSSAA ‘A/AA’ senior girls basketball action.

Sarah Bellan led the way with 17 points.

The Wallaceburg Tartans fell to St. Pat’s 48-34 in LKSSAA ‘AA’ senior girls basketball action on Thursday.

In LKSSAA ‘A/AA’ junior girls hoops, St. Francois-Xavier beat Lambton-Kent 34-31 on Tuesday.

Chloe Fox had 15 for the Cards, while Kelsey Teare added 6 points.
