A business owner was airlifted to hospital and a suspect faces assault charges after an incident on Halloween night at Mr. Nice Guy’s in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say last night at 7:30 p.m. a man entered the store at 1217 Dufferin Ave. in Wallaceburg, which is a novelty shop for drug paraphernalia.

Police allege the man and the store owner became involved in an argument that escalated into an assault and police were called.

As a result of the physical altercation, the owner was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and was later air lifted to Victoria Hospital in London for further assessment.

Police say the extent of injuries are unknown at this time.

The man was captured on video surveillance and his identity was confirmed, police say.

At 9:54 p.m. officers attended Sam’s Hotel, where they located the suspect, a 27-year-old Wallaceburg man.

The man was arrested and charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm.

He was then transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

  1. Thank you Dana for the ill reported and biased story. In your quest to push stories out as fast as possible with as little facts as you can get, you have caused more rumours and misunderstandings then I or my family needed at this time. Calling me a “drug paraphernalia” store was unnecessary and inaccurate. I only deal in products that can be used for marijuana, a product which will be decriminalized very soon by the way. I do not sell crack or meth pipes or any other accessories for any other drug. The nature of my business was irrelevant to the story. You have with your sloppy and antiquated reporting put my reputation into question. Secondly saying that me and this particular individual got into an argument leads people to believe there was an existing relationship between us. I was the victim of a meth head who viciously attacked me without provocation or warning. This can happen to anyone, at anytime, in any business, regardless of the nature of the establishment. Wallaceburg and the surrounding area are not a large area to cover, so perhaps you should actually do some research and put a little time into the very little stories you “report” on. I am not the only one disgusted by your lack of actual research and regard for me and my shop’s reputation.
