Provincial police say there are “multiple fatalities” after a fuel tanker explosion on Highway 400, near Barrie.
OPP officials say approximately 14 vehicles were involved, including two fuel tankers and three transport trucks.
“We’re dealing with a massive scene here right now,” Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, of the OPP’s Highway Safety Division, said in a video posted on social media.
“Multiple fatalities, multiple vehicles, fuel tankers, fire, explosions and just absolute carnage and devastation.”
The section of road is expected to be closed all day.
