Winter ‘Time Of Use’ period starts for Entegrus

The winter ‘Time Of Use’ price periods take effect today, November 1.

‘Time Of Use’ pricing remains the same.

Lucas Roe, Bernard Grass, Amy Clara, Tom Hillis, Mikayla Lozon, Don ‘Chicken Man’ McLean and Heidi Prince all qualified in the Langstaff & Langstaff Star Search competition at the CBD Club in Wallaceburg.

The last qualifying round was held on Friday night, October 27.

This year the event is sponsored by Grant Langstaff Construction and George Langstaff & Sons Construction. They are putting up the $1,000 for first place and $500 for second place. Co-operators is putting up $300 for third place.

The semi-finals takes place on November 3 and November 10, with the finals taking place on November 17.

Qualifying during Week #2 on Friday, October 20 was: Will DeGoey, Leslea Roesh, Wayne Phillips, Caroline Watier, Darren McLeary, Levi White.

Qualifying during Week #1 on Friday, October 13 was: Alan DeLaet. Lisa Michaud, Sylvie Arsenault, Laurie McClure, Michael Francis.

Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend

It will be time to push your clocks back one-hour this weekend, as Daylight Savings Time comes to an end.

Officially, it ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 5.

So before you go to bed on Saturday, set your clocks back.

Business and Community Excellence Awards tickets available

Play Rangers in Wallaceburg on Saturday

The CKRecreation Play Rangers program is coming to Wallaceburg this weekend.

The group will be setting up activities on Saturday, November 4 at the Wallaceburg Kinsmen Community Centre from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

There is free admission and children of all ages are welcome.

The CKRecreation Play Rangers program received the 2015 Parks and Recreation Ontario Award of Excellence for Innovation.

This provincial award recognizes the outstanding achievement that enhances quality of life for Ontario citizens and showcases the very best of recreation and parks.

It also draws attention to the importance and benefits of recreation for healthy people, vibrant communities and sustainable environments.

CKRecreation was selected in the Innovation category alongside the cities of Toronto, Mississauga and Vaughn.

The Play Rangers mobile recreation unit provides barrier-free access to recreation throughout the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

It encourages children to play outside and make more use of parks and open spaces by offering unique opportunities for unstructured free play.

Community Awareness Day on Saturday in Wallaceburg

The South Wallaceburg Action Team is gearing up for a Community Awareness Day on Saturday, November 4.

The event is featuring free food, a child fingerprint identification clinic, PAW Patrol, plus representatives from the Chatham-Kent Fire Department and Chatham-Kent Police Service.

It will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 4 Reaume Avenue Community Room.

All are welcome to attend.
