Golf club assault at Sam’s Hotel in Wallaceburg

Aggravated assault charges have been laid after a man was allegedly hit in the head with a golf club at Sam’s Hotel in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on October 27 around 8:30 p.m. a man allegedly struck another man over the head with a golf club.

The two men are known to one another, as they both reside at Sam’s Hotel located at 1531 Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg, police say.

Once officers arrived at Sam’s Hotel, they observed a noticeable injury to the victim’s head and face.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and then to Windsor Regional Hospital with a broken jaw and a severe head injury.

Through investigation, the identity of the man responsible for the alleged assault was learned and due to his whereabouts being unknown, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday afternoon at 4 p.m. the 27-year-old Wallaceburg man was located, arrested on the warrant and charged with aggravated assault.

He was also arrested on six additional warrants, unrelated to the aggravated assault.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
