The Chatham-Kent Police Service have released some more details, after a needle was found in a Halloween chocolate bar in Chatham.

Police officials say last night at 5:30 p.m. officers responded to an address on Alexandria Avenue in Chatham due to a complaint of a needle being found in a chocolate bar.

Police say the complainant had taken her children out trick or treating on Halloween within the area of Queen Street, Tweedsmuir Avenue, Lacroix Street and Park Avenue in Chatham.

Last night while inspecting her children’s candy, she located a needle sticking out of a Snickers chocolate bar and contacted police immediately.

The needle was removed and placed into a sharps container and the Snickers bar was disposed of by the officer.

“The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds everyone that checking over your children’s Halloween candy is a must,” stated Const. Kelly Helbin, public information officer, in a press release.

“We must also educate our children to do the same.”
