Baseball bat wielding suspect arrested in Wallaceburg

A baseball bat wielding suspect faces numerous charges after being arrested in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say last night, a man was inside his apartment complex on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. he started banging on a neighbour’s door, police say.

When the neighbour opened the door, the man was allegedly holding a baseball bat and yelling threats at him, police say.

The neighbour closed the door and called the police.

At 9:44 p.m. the man was located within his unit.

The 54-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and utter threats.

He was then transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters.

Police officials say while in custody, the man allegedly caused damage to the jail cell and continued to urinate on the floor inside and outside of his cell.

This interfered with police operations of additional prisoners, police say.

Therefore, the man was additionally arrested and charged with mischief.

He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
