Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad has accepted a full-ride scholarship to the University of Toledo.

The 17-year-old swimmer is expected to start at the Division 1 NCAA school in September of 2019.

“Toledo is such a great place,” Broad said on social media.

“There is a sense of community and family on the team. I’ve observed that Toledo has such a beautiful space that helps the students utilize the time spent there.”

Broad is hoping to study nursing at the school, which has an all-women’s swimming team.

Broad most recently had a golden weekend at the Swim International meet held in Brantford.

She came home with five gold medals after the meet, finishing first in the 50 metre backstroke, the 100 metre backstroke, the 200 metre backstroke, the 200 metre freestyle, and the 200 metre IM.

Broad is a student at UCC in Chatham and competes with the Chatham Y Pool Sharks, under head coach Kyle Pinsonneault.
