Several cartons of unmarked cigarettes seized

A Windsor man faces charges after allegedly being caught with a quantity of unmarked cigarettes.

Chatham-Kent OPP officials say on November 10 at approximately 4 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 near Kenesserie Road.

During the stop, police allegedly located several cartons of unmarked cigarettes in the motor vehicle.

As a result, a 56-year-old Windsor man was charged with the following offences;

– Adult possess unmarked cigarettes, contrary to the Tobacco Tax Act

– Adult driving motor vehicle while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

– Adult drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 8, 2017 to answer to the charges.
