Teddy bears tossed, Kings top Lakers (Photos)

The annual ‘Teddy Bear Toss’ was held at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena on Wednesday night, as the Wallaceburg Lakers hosted the Dresden Kings.

Stuffed animals flooded the ice after the Lakers scored at the 19:42 mark of the first period.

The proceeds are annually donated to the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul in Wallaceburg.

The toss was one of the few highlights on Wednesday for the Lakers, as the Dresden Kings won 10-2.

Geoffry VandenBoorn had a 5 point night, with 3 goals and 2 assists to lead the Kings,

Aidan Lachine scored twice for Dresden, while Darien Davis, Brantley Kuipers, Kevin Ritzer, Derek Shaw and Nolan VandenBoorn all found the back of the net as well.

Cody Hitchcock made 27 saves for the win.

Drew Fisher scored on a penalty shot for Wallaceburg.

KJ Fontenot scored the opening goal for the Lakers.

The Kings improved their record to 15-8-1-1 on the season, good for 3rd in the West Stobbs Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

The Lakers fell to 2-21-0-0, last in the league.

Both teams will meet again on Friday night at Dresden Arena.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
