Wallaceburg Lakers seeking experienced coach

After two coaches changes this season alone, the Wallaceburg Lakers are looking to add some experience behind the bench.

“The Wallaceburg Lakers are seeking an experienced junior level coach,” Ritch Kanally, general manager for the Lakers, told the Sydenham Current.

Kanally is asking anyone interested to email him their resume to oldkanzz@gmail.com.

Rick Vancoillie was hired in the off-season to be the Lakers head coach. Vancoillie and his staff were let go after eight games this season.

The Lakers then brought in Port Huron’s John Hartig to take over the head coaching duties.

After 11 straight losses, Hartig and his staff stepped down, citing personal reasons.

Kanally and Darryl Lucio, the team’s assistant general manager, have stepped behind the bench and are serving a dual role with the club.

The Lakers have a 2-21-0-0 record on the season, last in the West Stobbs Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
