Special weather statement issued, 5-10 cm of snow expected

A special weather statement has been issued across Chatham-Kent, as widespread accumulating snow is likely for Monday and Monday night.

Environment Canada official say a low pressure area moving across Southern Ontario is expected to bring a general snowfall of 5 to 10 cm.

The snow is expected to begin during the day Monday and taper off later Monday night.

Although localized slightly higher amounts are possible, snowfall warnings are not anticipated, where at least 15 cm would have to fall within 12 hours.

“Poor winter driving conditions are likely later Monday and Monday night,” forecasters say.

“Environment Canada will continue to monitor this situation and update statements accordingly. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.”
