‘Million Clicks for Cans’ Chevy Cruise held in Wallaceburg

The ‘Chevy Christmas Cruise – A Million Clicks for Cans’ event held on Sunday afternoon in Wallaceburg has been deemed a success.

The food drive/cruise was held to help celebrate Jerry (Jayce) Trembley’s 1997 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck eclipsing the 1 million kilometre mark back in June.

Synthia Trembley, Jayce’s wife, said she appreciates everyone’s support.

“I thought we had a very nice turn out,” she told the Sydenham Current.

“I’m very thankful for those who came. It’s a really, really cold day out there. We didn’t see many on the street, but I’m thankful for everyone who came out on this cold, brisk day.”

Trembley said they wanted to give back to the community to help celebrate the milestone. Read more about the story, here: Chevy cruise & food drive celebrating ‘1 million clicks’

“It’s all about giving,” she said.

“We’re in the town of Wallaceburg making history here. I’m quite pleased with today. We just have to be thankful whenever we can give, no matter how big or small.”

Jayce’s truck was filled with food donations, which will be given to the Salvation Army food bank in Wallaceburg.

Trembley said a crew from General Motors Company (GMC) made the trek from Toronto to Wallaceburg for the cruise. The GMC team brought a brand new Chevy Silverado filled with food donations for the fundraiser, plus they also brought a camera crew with them.

Trembley said she’s hoping her husband’s story will be included as part of their ‘Canadian Dream’ promotion.

The cruise/food drive started from the Salvation Army Thrift Store and wrapped up at James Street Eatery.
