$100,000 donation to Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation

The Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent has announced a $100,000 gift from Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance to support its recently-launched Butterfly Building Campaign.

The demand for specialized therapy for children and youth with special needs is growing in Chatham-Kent, with one in nine CK children accessing the CTC-CK for physiotherapy, speech therapy, audiology, adapted recreation, music therapy, social work, occupational therapy, autism services, and respite.

The Butterfly Building Campaign will support building a larger, state-of-the-art facility that will better accommodate the growing caseload.

Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance’s donation is earmarked to support building and equipment costs of the new facility’s hydrotherapy pool area.

The CTC-CK’s hydrotherapy pool will provide CTC-CK clients, Schools, Physiotherapy Clinics, and community groups with year-round access to a warm water therapy pool and physical activity, otherwise not available to them.

The CTC-CK’s swim program provides an opportunity for ongoing, inclusive physical activity for children with special needs, and develops sustainable life skills and therapy goals that can be transferred into additional recreation opportunities outside the Centre.

“We’re pleased to give back to the communities we serve and partner with such a great organization that assists children in Chatham-Kent,” stated Kevin Konecny, President and CEO of Kent & Essex Mutual, in a press release.

“By donating funds for the pool area, we hope that many groups within the community will enjoy and make use of its benefits.”

The CTC-CK is the only organization in Chatham-Kent with nearly 70 years of experience providing specialized, quality therapy to children and youth with special needs in the community.
