Over 200 grams of pot seized at RIDE check

A Wallaceburg man and a Chatham man face charges, after over 200 grams of marijuana was seized in Point Edward.

Lambton OPP officials say on December 16 at 10:25 p.m. officers were performing a R.I.D.E. check on Venetian Boulevard within the Village of Point Edward in order to deter impaired driving.

Police officials say as a Volkswagen Jetta entered a RIDE check, the attending OPP officers allegedly noticed that the odour of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle.

Subsequently, the OPP arrested and charged the driver and passenger for the possession of cannabis marijuana.

Police allege as a result of this arrest, in excess of 200 grams of marijuana was seized.

A 30-year-old Chatham man and a 25-year-old Wallaceburg man both face charges.

Police say they are both required to attend the Sarnia Court House on February 14 in order to answer to the charges.
