Air pistol and pot seized in Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg man is in custody after allegedly breaching a number probation conditions.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say in October 2017, a man was released from custody on a probation order.

Police say the conditions of the order was not to attend within a certain distance of a specific apartment complex on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg and not to possess any weapons.

Last night at 11 p.m. an officer on general patrol allegedly observed the man exiting the apartment complex on Wallace Street.

The 21-year-old Wallaceburg man was stopped, arrested and charged with failing to comply with his probation order.

As he was being searched incident to arrest, drugs and a loaded C02 powered air pistol was located on him.

Therefore, he was additionally arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Possession of a Controlled Substance: Cannabis Marijuana

– Possession of a Firearm

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
