Cyclones ‘sympathize’ with concerns about locker room issue

The Chatham-Kent Cyclones AAA Hockey organization has issued the following statement regarding the locker room situation in Ridgetown.

Steve Vanek, president of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones AAA Hockey organization, submitted the statement to the Sydenham Current:

The Cyclone organization has been made aware of the situation in Ridgetown.

We did enter into discussions with the municipality for a room to go with our ice rental for our team last spring.

It was recommended to us that the only room that we could use was in Ridgetown.

The municipality assured us that they was enough space for both organizations in this facility.

We then renovated the room and installed lockers for our kids at our own expense on top of our monthly ice rental.

South Kent Hockey or concerned parties should be contacting recreation facilities in Chatham Kent for clarification and status of the room.

We sympathize with any concerns regarding this matter but as stated, we are tenants like South Kent Hockey and deal with the Municipality of Chatham Kent for ice rental and accommodations.

We can not talk on the municipalities’ behalf but are confident they are doing what is best for everyone.

Yours truly,
Steve Vanek
President Cyclone Hockey
