Maddy picks up silver medal

Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad took part in the Ontario Junior International meet held in Scarborough from December 15 to 17.

Broad received the Chatham Y Pool Sharks first ever medal at the meet.

She got silver in the 200 metre backstroke with a new best time of 2:07.48.

She also placed 5th in the 50 metre backstroke with a new best time of 27.83.

She placed 6th in the 100 metre backstroke, 13th in the 50 metre fly with a new best time of 27.96, 23rd in the 50 metre freestyle and 30th in the 50 metre breaststroke.

Kings and Lakers lose

The Wallaceburg Lakers fell to the Blenheim Blades 3-0 on Wednesday. Travis Moore made 40 saves in the loss.

The Dresden Kings lost on the road to the Petrolia Flyers on Thursday, 4-3 in OT.

The loss snaps a 4-game winning streak for Dresden.

Brady Hogg, Geoffry VandenBoorn and Nolan VandenBoorn scored in the loss.

High school hoops

In junior boys LKSSAA basketball, the Blenheim Bobcats topped the Lambton-Kent Cardinals 78-39.

Daniel Trott scored 11 points and Miguel Antunes added 10 points in the loss.

In senior boys action, the Cardinals topped the Bobcats 43-31.

Kaelin Hunt and Jacob Alderdice each scored 12 points.
