The staff at Tom and Al’s have released a statement, following a Saturday morning blaze at their King Street warehouse.

“It is with heavy hearts we bring this report, but also with immense gratitude for the safety of all of our staff and the outpouring of calls and support that we have been receiving from the community and our family of customers,” the business posted on Facebook on Saturday afternoon.

“We appreciate you all. Thank you, also, to all of the first responders who are helping to contain the fire and keep our community safe.”

Their store on Lisgar Street is expected to be back open on Wednesday, December 27.

“Please know, we are/will be open for business, but some patience and understanding will be required as we reach out next week to those who’s orders have been affected and while we arrange for a new delivery truck,” the business says.

“Thank you again, to all of you, for your business, your care and your concern. We wish you all a safe and Happy Holiday with your loved ones. That is the greatest gift.”

The Chatham-Kent Police Service are asking for information from the public, as they are investigating the blaze as arson.
