Punch leads to assault charge in Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg man is facing assault charges stemming from an alleged incident on Saturday, December 30, 2017.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say the man became involved in a physical altercation with a member of his family at a complex in Wallaceburg.

Police allege that a neighbour intervened in an attempt to stop the fight and was punched in the face.

Police were called, but the man had left before officers arrived.

No injuries were reported, police say.

Attempts to locate the man were unsuccessful and therefore, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday at 4 p.m. the 28-year-old Wallaceburg man was located on Walpole Island, arrested and charged with assault.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
