Update: Fatal crash in St. Clair Township

The Lambton OPP have released more details after a fatal crash in St. Clair Township.

Police officials say on January 9 at 12:35 p.m. officers responded to a serious collision that had occurred within the intersection of Courtright Line at Kimball Road in St. Clair Township.

Police say investigation revealed that a tractor trailer tanker had collided with a passenger van.

The driver of the transport truck was able to walk away from his vehicle and was eventually transported to hospital for minor injuries.

The driver and passenger of the minivan were pronounced as deceased at the scene, OPP officials say.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators remain at the scene and continue to investigate.

Police say there have been no reported environmental concerns as to the tanker and its contents.

The names of the victims will not be released until adequate family notification has been completed, police say.

The investigation is on-going.

Police say Kimball Road is now open, however portions of Courtright Line east of Kimball Road remain closed.

Police officials say to slow down while driving in this area and yield to police and tow crews.
