Edward George “Ted” Stephen Resident of Cedar Springs, Ont. and formerly of St. Marys and Dresden, Ont. On January 4th, 2018, Ted passed peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 91.

Born June 26, 1926 in Oshawa to the late Harold (Stevie) & Arville Stephen, Ted was the beloved husband of 68 years to Shirley (Barringer) Stephen before her passing in 2014. Predeceased by his son, Bruce E. Stephen(1967), daughter Donna P. Chaffe(2014) and two sisters, Shirley and Marion. Survived by his sisters Helen and Carole (Bob). Loving father of Dianne Stephen, Carole (David) Hrecniuk, Melanie (Randy) Bellamy. Grandfather of Luke, Jillian, Michael, Hannah, Erik, Becky and Wylie. Great-grandfather of Jakob, Kylee, Kinsley, Flora and Ellie. Greatly missed by his cousin Ray (Lois) Walters and his long-time friend Mrs. Claire Froste.

Dad began his working career early and, at the age of 18, joined the military where he proudly served in the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion during WW2. He is best remembered as a long serving police officer in Peterborough, Elmira and Dresden, where he retired as Chief of Police in 1987.

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Luc Dubois, John (Bayshore), Rose (VON), and Dr. Samantha Chandrasena who helped to ensure that Dad’s last years with us were healthy and happy.

In keeping with Dad’s express wishes for “absolutely no fancy gathering”, cremation has taken place under the care of Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home in St. Marys, Ont. A private service will be held at a later date when Dad will be laid to rest in Peterborough with Mom. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dad’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
