Update: Shoppers crash causes extensive damage

The Chatham-Kent Police Service have released more details after a car crashed through a window at Shoppers Drug Mart in Wallaceburg on Monday.

Police officials allege the driver, an 80-year-old Port Lambton woman, pressed down on the accelerator of the vehicle in error and struck the front of the business, located at 30 McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

“At this time there have been no charges laid and there are no reports of anyone being injured,” Const. Kelly Helbin, public information officer, told the Sydenham Current.

Damage is estimated at $57,000.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 15.

The woman’s husband was also in the vehicle when the incident occurred.
