Cab driver robbed at knife point

Sarnia Police are investigating after a cab driver was robbed at knife point.

Police officials say on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at approximately 8 pm, officers responded to the 200 block of Capel Street regarding a local taxi cab operator being robbed at knife point.

According to information received from the cab driver he was flagged down in the area of London Road and Finch Drive in the City of Sarnia by the fare.

The fare asked the cab driver to drive him to the 200 block of Capel Street.

Upon coming to a stop on Capel Street the suspect allegedly raised a knife to the driver’s throat and asked for money.

Fortunately the driver was not injured but the suspect left the vehicle with a quantity of cash, police say.

The suspect was described as wearing all dark clothing with a black hood over his head.

The hooded coat was possibly made of wool or some other soft fabric.

The suspect was carrying a black backpack and is believed to be average in build and approximately five foot and eleven inches tall, police say.

The suspect ran northbound on Capel Street.
