Dresden Kings alone in first

The Dresden Kings are alone in first in the West Stobbs Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

The Kings won three times on the weekend and have picked up wins in seven straight games.

Dresden owns a 25-9-1-3 record on the year so far, good for 54 points, three points more than both the Essex 73’s and the Lakeshore Canadiens.

The Kings have two games remaining in the regular season.

Kings 4, Lakers 3

Newcomer Kenny Chisolm scored for Dresden and Nolan VandenBoorn, Kevin Ritzer and Lucas Spence also scored, as the Kings topped Wallaceburg 4-3 on Friday night in Dresden.

Brendan Johnston made 17 saves for the win.

Austin Bentley had a hat-trick for the Lakers in the loss, while Travis Moore made 38 saves.

The Kings out-shot the Lakers 42-20.

Kings 3, Flags 2 (OT)

Nolan Ross was the hero for Dresden on Saturday, scoring in overtime at the 1:49 mark to give Dresden the win.

Ritzer and Spence also scored for the Kings, who were out-shot by Mooretown 37-33.

Johnston made 35 saves for the win.

Kings 4, Blades 2

Nolan VandenBoorn scored a pair of goals, while Brady Hogg and Derek Shaw also scored for Dresden, sho doubled up the Blades on Sunday, 4-2.

Johnston made 16 saves for the victory.

Next up

Dresden will host Petrolia on Friday night and Wheatley on Friday, February 2 to close out the regular season.

Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
