Frank Dymock tournament around the corner

The annual Frank Dymock Memorial Tournament is right around the corner in Wallaceburg.

There will be free admission to Wallaceburg Memorial Arena and the Walpole Island Sports Complex for the tournament, which is being held from Friday, February 16 to Sunday, February 18.

Games will start as early as 12 p.m. on Friday and run all day everyday, wrapping up Sunday evening around 6 p.m or 7 p.m.

Professional sports photography will be on site in Wallaceburg.

There will be fundraising activities taking place, including raffle prize table, 50/50 draws and the popular bake sale.

“A fun and great way to spend Family Day celebrating the memory of a huge member to our hockey family… Frank Dymock,” said Tom Cogghe, Wallaceburg Minor Hockey’s Director of Tournaments.

Seth plays in 300th professional game

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith recently played in his 300th professional game, as he suited up for the Rochester Americans of the AHL.

During the game, Griffith scored his 81st professional goal, have a look:

In 24 games with the Americans, Griffith has 8 goals and 16 assists for 24 points.

Brodie steady for the Flames

Dresden’s T.J. Brodie continues his consistent play for the Calgary Flames.

In 49 games so far this season, the 27-year-old defenceman has scored 3 goals and added 17 assists for 20 points. He also has a -9 +/-, as he logs over 20 minutes a night on the ice.

The Flames are currently 7th in the Western Conference with a 25-16-8 record.

Wallaceburg Atom girls grab silver

After starting the year with only nine skaters and no goalie, a few months later they’ve played in three tournaments and captured two silver medals.

The Lakers lost 2-1 to Ilderton last weekend in the final of the B.A.D. Tournament in Aylmer.

The team is now busy preparing for the playoffs.

Bantam Lakers on 16-game winning streak

The Aarkel Bantam Lakers are heading to the playoffs on a hot streak.

The team finished off their regular season this weekend with back-to-back wins on Saturday against the South Kent Lightning (7-3) and Sunday against the Dresden Jr. Kings (7-2).

The team finished first place with a record of 17-1-0 on the season.

This takes them into the playoffs on a 16-game winning streak.

Lakers lose two

The Wallaceburg Lakers Junior ‘C’ hockey team lost twice this week.

The squad fell to Mooretown 6-0 on Wednesday.

They then turned around and lost to Petrolia 4-0 on Thursday.

Wallaceburg will play their third straight game on Friday night in Lakeshore.
