We’re going to take a look at some upcoming events in the community, which is brought to you by Miha’s Bistro in Dresden, who are holding a sweet contest on their Facebook page. ‘Like’ their page, and ‘Like’, comment and share their contest post for a chance to win ‘Dinner for Two’ at Miha’s Bistro. 422 St. George Street Dresden.


– The Dresden Kinsmen are holding a fish fry at the Dresden Arena on Saturday featuring entertainment from Toast & Jam. The doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner is being served between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., and it will feature all you can eat perch and chicken wings. Tickets are only $30. They are available at McKellar’s Flowers and Gifts, Bob Ellis Motors, Hughson Automotive and from Kinsmen members.

– Terminator 1 & 2 is being shown in the Jeanne Gordon Hall on Saturday, January 27. Refreshments are available. There is free entry and donations are welcome. The movies are not suitable for people under 14. The event will run from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

– First Baptist Church and the Wallaceburg Veterans, First Responders and Families Support Group is co-hosting a roundtable discussion about PTSD, depression and other mental health issues. It will be held on Jan 27 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church.

– The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is celebrating National Non-Smoking Week this week. It is designed to inform and educate Canadians about the dangers of tobacco use, to reduce exposure to second-hand smoke and to support those who currently use tobacco, to quit.

– The Chatham-Kent budget committee deliberations are scheduled for January 30, 31 and February 1, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Civic Centre in Chatham.

– A blood donor clinic is being held at the Dresden Arena hall on Tuesday, January 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visit blood.ca to book your appointment.

– A card party is being held at the Christian Church Hall in Dover on Tuesday January 30 at 7 p.m. Admission is $5, there will be prizes and food available. Everyone is welcome.

– And finally… the Sydenham Community Curling Club is holding a Penny Social on Wednesday, January 31st. Doors open at 5 p.m. and prizes start at 7 p.m.
