Law of diminishing returns

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

In the world of economics there is a concept called the ‘law of diminishing returns.’

Simply put, it is the principle that a continual increase in effort or investment will not lead to a continual increase in output or results.

Nobody likes this law but it is in effect in so many areas of life.

Take Delta Airlines, for example.

They made a decision back in December to update their policy on baggage fees for basic economy travellers.

Previously, in the highly competitive world of air travel, Delta had allowed one free item of checked luggage per person.

Now, for the same ticket price for a basic economy ticket, one must pay $60 for the first bag of checked luggage.

Same price, less perks.

Yep, it’s the law of diminishing returns hard at work to make your life more miserable!

Thankfully, the Lord does NOT rule His universe under these man made economic conditions.

In fact, the opposite is true.

God’s law is the law of sowing and reaping.

In Galatians 6:10 the apostle Paul said, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

A couple of verses later he then says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

No diminishing returns with God.

He always sees to it that there is a return on the investments we make in the lives of others – so let’s keep making them!
