Kings top Flyers, remain in first place

The Dresden Kings remain atop the West Stobbs Division standings in the Provincial Junior Hockey League, after a 6-4 win over Petrolia on Friday.

Kevin Ritzer scored a pair of goals and recorded an assist to lead the Kings, who out-shot the Flyers 34-32.

Brendan Ritchie, Derek Shaw, Geoffry VandenBoorn and Nolan VandenBoorn also scored for Dresden, who now own a 26-9-1-3 record on the season.

Brendan Johnston stopped 28 shots for the win.

Dresden has one game remaining on their regular season schedule.

They will host Wheatley at Dresden Arena on Friday, February 2 at 7:30 p.m.

With 56 points on the season, Dresden is two points ahead of Amherstburg who is in second place with 54 points. The Admirals have wrapped up their regular season.

The Essex 73’s and Lakeshore Canadiens are tied for third in the league with 53 points each. Essex has two games remaining, while Lakeshore has three more games to play.
