Tractor trailer stolen in Wallaceburg, three arrested in Oxford

A tractor trailer, which was stolen in Wallaceburg this week, ended up near Ingersoll and three people were arrested in connection with the theft.

OPP officials say on Monday, January 29 sometime before 5 a.m., a commercial motor vehicle, tractor and trailer was reported stolen from Wallaceburg.

The trailer was later recovered abandoned by the Chatham-Kent Police Service, OPP officials say.

The vehicle portion was equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) and information on the location of the vehicle was received by police.

Officers from Lambton County, Middlesex County and Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continued to monitor the stolen vehicle as it entered several different counties.

During the course of the investigation the stolen vehicle allegedly failed to stop for police, OPP officials say.

The vehicle travelled through Zorra Township in Oxford County, and a female suspect exited the vehicle as it slowed at the intersection of Road 88 and 37th Line, OPP officials allege.

She was arrested without incident by OPP.

The vehicle continued into East Zorra-Tavistock Township and Blandford Blenheim Township where it was observed in the Drumbo area.

The vehicle travelled on Oxford Road 29 when it left the roadway and travelled onto the Canadian Pacific Railroad (CP) tracks just west of Drumbo.

The vehicle then stopped off the railroad tracks and two male suspects fled the area on foot.

OPP Aviation Services (Helicopter) attended the area and assisted with the search with OPP Canine Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members.

One male suspect was located and arrested at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018.

The second male was located in the Drumbo area on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 and arrested without incident by OPP.

The female suspect, 26-years-of-age, of Walpole Island, was charged with the following offences:

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5,000 – contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine – contrary to The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

She was held in custody for a bail hearing to answer to the charges.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending for the two involved male suspects.
