Donald Samuel Mann, a lifelong resident of Wallaceburg, died peacefully at the CKHA in Chatham on Friday, February 02, 2018 at the age of 85.
Don is the son of the late Frank and Zene (McLean) Mann. Beloved husband of Jeannette (Houtekier). Loving father of Chris (Brenda), Patti Pikula (Ed) and John (Sandra). Dear grandfather of Laura (Joe) Vink, Mike Mann, Katie and Jack Pikula and Sam Mann and great grandfather of Bria Vink. Brother of Robert (Marilyn), David (Martha) and Janet Mann. Brother-in-law of Ariel Mann. Predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bill Abraham, brother Alan and sister-in-law Elza (Houtekier) Mosley.
Don ran Mann’s Garage and the Ministry of Transportation License Office for many years, was a proud member of the Wallaceburg Hornets Oldtimers Hockey Team, and on the Executive of the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame committee. As a member of the Masonic Lodge, Don held the position of Grand Master in 1971. He was inducted into the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame as a member of several teams and was the 2017 Honourary Chairperson. Don was actively involved in Wallaceburg Minor Hockey as a coach for many years.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Tuesday, Febuary 6, 2018. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 11 AM. Interment in Riverview Cemetery.
