Aggravated assault charges laid after stabbing in Chatham

Aggravated assault charges have been laid after a stabbing in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on February 5, around 7:30 p.m. a verbal argument began outside a residence in Chatham between two men known to each other.

Police allege the incident escalated into a physical altercation resulting in the man brandishing a knife and stabbing the other man.

The 25-year-old victim was transported by ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

He was transported to the courthouse yesterday pending a bail hearing.
