The Dresden Kings completed the sweep over the Wheatley Sharks on Monday night with a thrilling double overtime win.
Brantley Kuipers was the hero in Wheatley, scoring the winner just 11 seconds into the second extra frame, clinching the 3-2 win.
Brendan Johnston was stellar between the pipes for Dresden, making 48 saves in 80 minutes of action. Johnson was named the game’s first star.
The Kings out-shot the Sharks 57-50.
Kevin Ritzer scored a pair of goals in regulation for the Kings.
Dresden won the series 4-0 and will move on to the next round of the playoffs.
In the second round, the Kings will match up against the Essex 73’s who swept the Petrolia Flyers in their opening round series.
