Home Builders to Ride 1000km for Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance

On May 23, 2018, Dave Depencier (Depencier Builders Ltd., and Co-Chair of the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign) and Dan Van Moorsel (Dresden Ready Mix) will kick off a 1000km bike ride across Southwestern Ontario, connecting with local home building associations along the way.

The Final Push will take place over 6 days, starting from CKHA‟s Wallaceburg hospital site to Toronto and back to Chatham-Kent. All proceeds from the event will support the CKHA $6.9 million Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign.

“This extraordinary event is symbolic of the passion members of our community have for their local hospital,” stated Mary Lou Crowley, Executive Director, Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, in a press release.

“Dave and Dan have both expressed their commitment to improving health care right here in the Chatham-Kent. This ambitious six day cycling adventure will drive awareness and raise much needed funds as we look to the final push to campaign completion. We look forward to the Final Push.”

“As a builder in the home building industry, I’m really looking forward to connecting with the home building associations across Southwestern Ontario,” stated Dave Depencier, organizer of the Final Push.

“We have some exciting plans coming together at our stops along the route, with a goal of raising some
major funds and awareness for this campaign.”

The Final Push

In late 2017, Dave found himself needing the services of CKHA’s Chatham and Wallaceburg hospital
sites after suffering from an intense pain in his shoulder. After an emergency CT scan in Chatham, Dave
was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism.

Without this equipment in Chatham-Kent, Dave’s diagnosis might not have been as positive. With this renewed understanding of the important of state-of-the-art equipment, Dave laid the plans for The Final Push – a 1000km bike ride across Southwestern Ontario to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign.

The community is invited to support Dave and Dan through donations to the event.

A website, foundationckha.akaraisin.com/thefinalpush has been setup for online donations.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Foundation of CKHA office at 9 Ursuline Ave., Chatham or 325 Margaret Ave., Wallaceburg.

Members of the community are also invited to the event kickoff on May 23rd in Wallaceburg, and are encouraged to ride along with Dave and Dan as they return into Chatham-Kent on May 28th.

More details regarding the kickoff and event touchdown will be available closer to the event date.

The community can follow along with Dave and Dan‟s ride through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
