Meredith Emerson “Whitey” Haskell of Wallaceburg

Meredith Emerson “Whitey” Haskell of Wallaceburg passed away peacefully at Fairfield Park on January 4, 2018 at the age of 100.

Son of the late James & Alma (Kirsey) Haskell of Port Alma. Predeceased by siblings: Charles, Floyd, Vernon (Buck), Allan, Marzella and Thelma. Beloved husband of the late Lena Belle (Gall). Loved father of Barry Haskell, Bonnie Boe, Penny Turner, Bill (Carolyn) Haskell, Lisa Robinson. Dear grandfather of Barry Jr. (Tammy), Anita (Chris), Troy (Stacey), Trevor, Trisha, Travis, Shannon (Dave), Alison (Chris) and Emerson. Great grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Whitey served for 5 years in WW II with the Perth Regiment during the Italian Campaign. He worked over 30 years at Canada Post as a letter carrier and retired as an assistant Postmaster. Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Oddfellows (I.O.O.F) and Masons.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Haycock-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg. A celebration of Whitey’s life is planned for a later date with interment in Riverview Cemetery. If desired, remembrances to Canadian Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice may be left at the funeral home. 519-627-3231.
