Events: Family Day, Pub Crawlers, Barnier Boys

We’re going to take a look at some upcoming events in the community, which is brought to you by Arctic Heating and Cooling, an exclusive “Green On” contractor. Pub Crawlers are performing on Saturday at St. James Church, in downtown Wallaceburg from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is a good will offering.

A dance is being held at the Moose Lodge in Wallaceburg on Saturday, featuring the Barnier Boys. The event runs from 7:30 to 10:30 and features a light lunch. Cost is $5.

Family Board games are being played at the Wallaceburg Library on Family Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Coldest Night of the Year event is being held Saturday Feb. 24. On that day, Canadians in more than 100 communities will participate in a walk to raise funds and awareness about the plight of homelessness. The local walk, sponsored by NeighbourLink, will begin and end at The Hub, the former Pines Chapel, at 64 Ursuline Ave.

Jacqueline Garlick is discussing her experience in becoming a published author as well as her latest books at the Wallaceburg Library, on Thursday, March 8 at 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Register by callingl 519-627-5292.

The Sombra Optimist Club will be holding a Chili Cook-Off and Trivia Night at the Port Lambton Community Hall on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Contestants need to preregister to be in the contest by phoning Johaane at 519-331-5737.

The Sombra Optimist Club will be holding meat raffles at Rum Runners Speakeasy in Sombra. The dates of the raffles are: March 7 and 21, April 4 and 18, May 2, 16 and 30 and June 13 and 27. There will be six draws each night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $1 per draw ticket. Each raffle prize is valued at $25. Proceeds go towards the Optimist Youth projects.
