The Dresden Kings are on the brink of elimination after a splitting a pair of playoff games on the weekend with the Essex 73’s.
Essex 7, Dresden 1
On Sunday afternoon in Essex, the 73’s thumped the Kings 7-1.
Brodie Conlon scored the lone goal for Dresden, as unassisted marker at the 1:44 mark of the second period.
Brendan Johnston made 20 saves and allowed 5 goals in two periods of play, Cody Hitchcock made 7 saves and allowed 2 goals in period of action.
Essex out-shot Dresden 34-28.
Dresden 4, Essex 3
On Friday night in Dresden, the Kings beat the 73’s 4-3.
Brendan Ritchie, Derek Shaw and Darien Davis all scored on the powerplay for Dresden, who were out-shot by Essex 27-21. Geoffry VandenBoorn scored s shorthanded goal for the Kings as well.
Johnston made 24 saves for the win.
Game #5 set for Monday
The series will shift back to Dresden on Monday, with the 73’s holding a commanding 3-1 lead.
Puck drops at 8:30 p.m. at Dresden Arena.
