Kings stay alive with 1-0 win over 73’s

The Dresden Kings are still alive in their best-of-seven Provincial Junior Hockey League playoff series against the Essex 73’s.

Facing elimination, Dresden beat the Essex squad 1-0 on Monday night at Dresden Arena.

Kings goalie Brendan Johnston stopped all 23 shots he faced and was named the game’s first star.

Nolan VandenBoorn scored the lone goal in the game with a marker at the 6:27 mark of the second period.

Darien Davis picked up an assist on the play.

Essex out-shot Dresden 23-21.

The 73’s still lead the series 3-2 and Game #6 shifts back to Essex on Tuesday night, February 27.

Puck drops at 7 p.m.

If the Kings can scrape together a road win in Game #6, Game #7 will be back in Dresden on Friday night, March 2.
