Public Works asks for minimal parking ahead of snow storm

Forecasters say heavy snowfall accumulation of 10 to 20 cm is expected to continue throughout the evening.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent Public Works Department is asking for public support to minimize the parking of vehicles on municipal streets.

Emergency vehicles, citizens and local businesses all depend on streets and roads to be clear for passage. This action will enable snow ploughs to clear away the snow and ice as safely and efficiently as possible. Please be patient and keep a safe distance behind working snow plows and avoid passing a snow plow.

Please note that a parking ban under Chatham-Kent by-law 245-2004, section 218.02 and 218.03 has not been declared at this time.

This may still be invoked if the snowfall is heavier than forecasted.
