Three-times the legal limit following crash

A Chatham man was allegedly three-times the legal limit after a crash last month.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at approximately 9 p.m., the police received a call regarding a vehicle in a ditch located on Fairview Line near Communications Road.

Police officials allege that upon arrival, officers located the driver of the car sitting in the truck of a passer-by.

The officer noted that the driver was highly intoxicated and subsequently arrested him for care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired.

The driver, who wasn’t injured in the collision, was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he conducted further breath tests.

The readings indicated that his blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit, police officials allege.

As a result, the 32-year-old Chatham man was charged with Care and Control and Over 80mgs.

He was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date of March 6, 2018.
